Potomac River Running is a family-owned, local business with eight area DC-area stores to serve you. Though our name says “running” you don’t have to love, or even like running to come see us! We offer a personalized fitting experience to help you select the right shoe for you — whether to stand at work, head to the gym, or run your first (or 101st) race. You’ll find apparel choices that work for your activity of choice too! Come by PR Burke on Wednesday, May 6 at 7:00 PM for a fun run Powered by New Balance! Meet our New Balance rep and learn about all the latest in the New Balance shoe line!  There will even be a variety of shoes to test out while out on your fun run!

The Burke Hump Day Dash is a weekly social run lead by =PR= staff members, every Wednesday evening at 7pm. The free program is a great way to meet new people and add some structure to your training schedule. Whether you’re a beginner or a competitive runner, please join us for a fun, low-key run that’s safe and social.

The run is typically no more than 50 minutes — from the store on the trails and paths of Burke. 50 minutes is not a magic number, but by going out and back, everyone can start and finish together and run at their own pace with others of similar ability. New runners may only want to run a mile or two. Experienced athletes might do a tempo run.

Stick around afterward to have a beer with other runners!

Back by popular demand: Tame the trails with =PR=’s Spring 2015 Trail Fun Run Series. You asked for more trail runs, more locations, more fun. We aim to please! We’ll be hosting trail runs through the fall, but here are the first dates so you can mark your calendar! Get off the roads and enjoy a 30-, 60- or 90-minute (or more) trail run. There’s a pace and a group for everyone.

Registration is FREE but we ask that you please register in advance so we can get an accurate count of runners! Click below to register for the trail run(s) you would like to attend.

Running Fundamentals Program: “Back to Basics” @ =PR= Fairfax

Although exercise physiology principles have been studied for years and have not changed much lately, our running society has begun to focus more on the principles of running economy, and recently-developed theories about proper technique may be leading to a revolution in running shoe design!

Training the body to execute precise, efficient movements will pay dividends for all sorts of races, with perhaps greatest impact on the longer distances – without getting fitter, you will be able to run faster with proper technique.

But good technique is not just for the racing set – improving your running technique can help you minimize the risk of injury and keep you making positive steps forward in your running. There are even a variety of new footwear designed to help you transition to a more efficient running form, although for many, better form may simply mean you come to require less “stability” in your running shoes than previously.

Running Fundamentals Program: “Back to Basics”

So, how do you get more efficient? Join =PR= for our FREE one-hour “Back to Basics” clinics. Come learn more about the key aspects of good running form, and how to implement them, including appropriate:

– head/shoulder/body position
– knee angle
– foot strike
– stride length
– stride frequency

You must RSVP to reserve your slot – clinics are limited to 25 participants each to ensure personal attention.  Please RSVP below.
