Join us in Ashburn at 6:30 PM for our weekly Tuesday evening fun runs! The free program is a great way to meet new people and add some structure to your training schedule. Whether you’re a beginner or a competitive runner, please join us for a fun, low-key run that’s safe and social.
The run is typically no more than 50 minutes — from the store out and back on the W&OD trail. 50 minutes is not a magic number, but by going out and back, everyone can start and finish together and run at their own pace with others of similar ability. New runners may only want to run a mile or two. Experienced athletes might do a tempo run. Occasionally, some of the group will finish the evening at a local eatery for some “refueling.”
Questions? Call us at the store at (703) 729-0133 in Ashburn.
We hope to have you join us for a very informative seminar given by coach and professional triathlete, Margie Shapiro. Margie will provide detail on the concepts behind your training, addressing smart training and fueling/hydration. The seminar will delve into the basic exercise physiology relevant to marathon training to explain why, especially as your long runs get longer, running at the appropriate effort level becomes increasingly important.
Additionally, Margie will discuss the importance of fueling and hydrating effectively. Marathon training is about more than putting in the miles and doing the workouts. Many people throw away months of training on race day because they do not refuel effectively during the race. Your body burns on average about 100 calories/mile – that means during the course of a marathon, you’re burning 2600 calories – just to keep yourself running. It’s therefore critical to learn to eat and drink correctly, both to make your training more effective and your race successful. This seminar will cover what to eat and drink, when, and why – before, during, and after training and the race itself.
Margie will be conducting this seminar on 3 different dates, in 3 different PR store locations.
If you’d like to join us for the RESTON seminar, please RSVP below.
