Run Your Heart Out 5k Join us for the 2nd Annual Run Your Heart Out 5k on February 10, 2013! The race will take place at South Lakes High School, 11400 South Lakes Drive, in Reston, VA. Start time is 9 A.M. The course runs through picturesque south Reston. Participants will receive a commemorative Nike dri fit t-shirt and a commemorative race pin, part of the =PR= race series collection. There will be overall and age groups awards to top finishers. There will also be awards given to the top husband-wife team, boyfriend-girlfriend team, father-daughter team, mother-son team, father-son team, mother-daughter team. Reston 10 Miler Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 8:00 AM Reston, VA Prove you persevered through winter and run a solid 10 miler! The Reston 10 Miler is a great way to kick off the spring racing season. Join us for this early spring event on a scenic course through picturesque Reston, VA and help raise funds in support of South Lakes High School Track & Field. Lucky Leprechaun 5k Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 8:30 AM Reston, VA Run like you’ve got the luck of the Irish on your side! Grab your run buddies for the festive Lucky Leprechaun 5k with a fantastic St. Patty’s Day after-party! 3.1 miles with a Clyde’s restaurant St. Patrick’s Day celebration at the finish line! 10 a.m. – Bacon & Kegs Irish breakfast in the Pavilion. After that, Clyde’s food, Guinness beer, Irish folk dancing and fun children’s activities, including a moon bounce and face painting! The 5k course loops around the Reston Town Center area on the roads. There will be overall and age groups awards to top finishers. There will also be team awards. Run for Haiti 5k Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 9:00 AM Reston, VA In response to the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti in 2010, Potomac River Running organized the Run for Haiti 5K and Fun Run. With the support of the community, Potomac River Running was able to donate all proceeds to the Red Cross to support the thousands needing medical treatment and basic supplies. Today, Haiti has made profound strides in recovering from the unprecedented disaster and we want to continue providing aid to victims. This race was founded by Moise Joseph, a valuable member of the Potomac River Running staff. Moise was a 12-time All-American while at the University of Florida, competed for Haiti in the Athens 2004 and London 2012 Olympic Games, and has been a member of four World Championship teams. Moise currently trains and races on the track at the national and international level. Moise’s family resides in Haiti—he even returned to Haiti in 2010 to present the donation. Rockstar Run 8k Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 8:00 AM Burke, VA Bring out your inner rockstar and ROCK the 4th annual Rockstar Run 8k on Sunday, April 28! The course will run through scenic Burke Centre, using Burke Centre Parkway. There is also a One Mile Fun Run if you’d rather rock that distance instead! The Rockstar Race benefits the Celebrate Cherie Scholarship Fund. Cherie Yadao, a physical therapist and manager for Commonwealth Orthopaedics had her life cut short on August 29, 2009 at age 35 after a valiant fight against a rare cancer called extra pulmonary small cell carcinoma. To the end, Cherie lived her life to the fullest and touched so many lives in the process. To know Cherie is to understand her favorite saying “Party like a Rockstar.” The Rockstar Run 8k/1 mile fun run/walk celebrates the essence of Cherie-her spirit of adventure, her tenacity, and her insatiable zest for life. Proceeds from this race will go to the Celebrate Cherie Scholarship Fund to help physical therapy students pursue their dream of helping others as Cherie did. Devotion To Children Mother's Day 4-Miler Sunday, May 12, 2013 at 8:00 AM Browns Chapel Park, Reston, VA Join us for the Devotion to Children 4-Miler Mother’s Day Race, benefiting Devotion To Children (DTC). The 4-Miler starts at 8 a.m. on Baron Cameron Avenue and will finish at Browns Chapel Park. There is also an untimed one mile fun run and walk for those not wishing to do 4 miles. Birthday Bash 5k Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 8:00 AM Fairfax Corner, Fairfax, VA Come party with Potomac River Running! Join us in celebration of our 10th Birthday AND the grand opening of our 9th retail location, in Fairfax Corner! Come celebrate with us on Saturday, June 22nd at 8:00 a.m. There is a race distance for everyone… a 5k or 1k fun run, and even a 100 meter dash for our wee tots! Firecracker 5K Wednesday, July 4, 2013 at 8:00 AM Reston Town Center, Reston, VA Come out and celebrate the 4th of July with Potomac River Running! The 4th annual Firecracker 5k will start and finish at Reston Town Center. There will be a little kids fun run, too — a few hundred yards long on Market Street at 8:50 am following the 5k finish. Leesburg 20K/5K Sunday, August 18, 2013 at 7:30 AM Leesburg, VA Come out and join us on Sunday, August 18th for the 25th Running of the Leesburg 20K/5K presented by Harris Teeter. South Lakes 10k Whether you are looking for a first ever 10k, an early fall kick off race, or a measuring point in your fall training, this race is for you. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 25th at South Lakes High School (11400 South Lakes Dr., Reston, VA 20191). The course has several flat, fast stretches, and also offers some steady inclines and declines. The first 500 registrants will receive a commemorative technical t-shirt. The Perfect 10... "10 Miler or 10K - you be the judge!" Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 8:00 AM South Lakes High School, Reston, VA Join us for The Perfect 10, you choose the distance... either the 10k or 10 Miler! This unique event will race will be run throughout beautiful South Reston. The race benefits the South Lakes Cross Country & Track and Field Teams. Commemorative short sleeve t-shirts to all pre-registered runners. There will be post race food, entertainment, and awards. Glory Days XC (open race) The Glory Days Grill Cross Country 5k Race is for runners of all ages! It is run on a fun cross country course at Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville, VA. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. There will be post race refreshments and awards. The Glory Days High School Cross Country Invitational begins at 10 a.m. at the same location. Stay after the race and watch the high schoolers. The Invitational consists of 3000 runners competing throughout the day in 9 different races. Nearly Naked Mile Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM Reston, VA What is better than running a Nearly Naked Mile and having a beer afterward, all in great November temperatures? Not much! Join us for the Nearly Naked Mile (and the party which takes place, before and after!). The Nearly Naked Mile will take place on November 10th at the Reston Town Center in Reston, VA. The event supports the Burn Foundation. The D.C. Firefighters Burn Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization founded by active and retired Washington, D.C. Firefighters. The Foundation is dedicated to assisting in the recovery and rehabilitation of injured firefighters and burn patients in the D.C. Metropolitan Area. The Foundation supports burn research, treatment, and rehabilitation programs at Washington Hospital Center as well as the Children’s Burn Camp Program. Firefighters and members of the Burn Center have a special empathy for burn victims. No other group witnesses more of the devastation that fire wreaks on the human body and spirit. The Nearly Naked Mile takes place on November 9th! There will be multiple mile races beginning at 2 p.m. At the finish line, runners/walkers will be brought in by The Northern Virginia Bag Pipers “Pipe”. Each finisher will receive a personal thanks from a Burn Survivor and if you are old enough to drink, you will receive one free beer. There will be food and drinks for kids and everyone. There will also be displays from the Burn Foundation and some antique and current fire engines along with firefighters and kids red hats… We want everyone to feel comfortable in their skin, as burn victims do. We don’t need to see you completely naked, but feel free to wear minimal running attire to get you through the run in the chilly conditions. The first 500 registrants will receive commemorative flannel boxer shorts (gender specific sizing)! Additional race information and registration details are available.

Gingerbread Man Mile Calling all kids! Run Run as fast as you can and CATCH the Gingerbread man! Join us on the Friday after Thanksgiving (November 29, 2013) for the Gingerbread Man Mile (for kids!). The event kicks off a festive day at the Reston Town Center which includes a Holiday Parade. Registration is free for kids, although a donation to Neediest Kids is appreciated. Run With Santa 5K - Reston Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 8:30 AM Reston, VA Join Santa and Potomac River Running for the Run With Santa 5k in Reston, VA! The 5k loop will run through the residential streets of Reston and finish at the Reston Town Center. Participants will receive a commemorative technical long sleeve t-shirt and a special goodie bag from Santa. Feel free to dress up in your favorite holiday costume for the race. Whether you dress up in a Santa suit or dress as an elf, you will join in the festive holiday atmosphere at the Run With Santa 5k. There will be awards for the best costumes! New Year's Day 5K Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM Reston, VA Kick off the New Year in style by joining us for the New Year’s Day 5k! With a race start time of 10:00 am, there’s still time to sleep in a bit after ringing in the New Year! The run will start and finish at Reston Town Center and will cover a picturesque route.
