Kerry Tousignant , Staff
Hometown: Annandale, VA
Running Experience and Accomplishments:
Kerry started running in middle school by doing the S.O.M.E. Turkey Trot in D.C. with her aunts. In high school, she played volleyball and rowed and kept at that annual Turkey Trot. After graduation from James Madison University, Kerry discovered that getting strong through running was a way to combat self-confidence/quarter-life crisis issues and started to enjoy running regularly. As her race times decreased, she signed up for more races. She completed Rock and Roll Virginia Beach in 2013 but was grossly underprepared (dehydration, chafing and sunburn -- oh my) and swore she'd never do another half-marathon. Enough time has now passed that she is scouting again. In the meantime, she's completed dozens of 5ks, a handful of 10ks, and a few ten-milers. Kerry has coached Girls on the Run, a physical activity-based youth development program, since 2013. She credits the girls she's coached with being her inspiration, both athletically and professionally, as she is preparing to go back to school to become an accredited school counselor.
Favorite Race: tied between the GW Parkway 10-Miler and the biannual Girls on the Run race!
