This is an hour clinic to show runners how proper stretching can help in injury prevention. During this clinic 4-5 different yoga postures will be demonstrated which can help target and give therapy to the muscles most commonly used in running. We will break down each posture and help runners know what stretching specific muscles should feel like and common bad habits of stretching that may actually cause injury. We will talk about how yoga is actually a great cross training tool. We will also talk about common stretches used and taught to runners and how to get more benefit out of these stretches. By the end of this clinic runners will have better understanding of their body and how to properly stretch, plus a 5-10 minute yoga sequence that they can do on their own on a daily basis. This way, runners can stay constantly close to their PRs or even break their PRs!
Dan found yoga his freshmen year of college. What he thought was going to be an easy stretching class to supplement his long distance running turned into a love of the practice. After taking four years of Vinyasa, Hatha, Ashtanga and Bikram yoga, he decided to take his 200 hour teacher training in Virginia Beach, with Ann Richardson and Beryl Bender Birch. Dan likes to blend all of his yogic experiences into an athletic, fun practice to help his students concentrate on staying present.
