Arlington Store Staff

Wendi Robinson, Store Manager

Hometown: Danville, IN

Running Experience and Accomplishments: Wendi discovered she had a knack for distance running in 8th grade (after an unsuccessful attempt to be a sprinter on the middle school track team). She competed at Danville High School, and was the 2005 Indiana State Champ in the 1600, running 4:54. Wendi continued to compete in track and cross country at Indiana University, where she was a team captain, 5x NCAA qualifier, and an All-American in Cross Country in 2008, placing 28th. While finishing her master’s degree in Exercise Physiology this past year she began road racing, and ran 1:18 at the Indianapolis Mini Marathon in May.

Favorite....Place to Run: Roosevelt Island and Mt Vernon Trail

 

Maura Bigmann

Hometown: Richmond, VA

Running Experience and Accomplishments: Maura started running as a freshman in high school with cross country to stay in shape for soccer. In college, Maura started running just because she liked it. After running for a few years, she started racing doing 5ks and 10ks and did her first 10 miler this fall. Maura is currently training for the Richmond Half and plans on doing a marathon next year.

Pam Champlain

Hometown: Endwell, NY

Running Experience and Accomplishments: After taking a break for several years, Pam has gotten back into running, first with shorter races and then finally the full marathon. Pam has to have at least one race on the calendar or she starts to get a little too complacent in her training. She hopes to tackle triathlons next year, in addition to several other half marathons and another full marathon.

Favorite....Hobby: Singing in a rock band!

 

Rory Duffield

Hometown: Amherst, NH

Running Experience and Accomplishments: Rory began running competatively in the 4th grade and now as a member of the =PR= racing team continues to compete in numerous road races from 5K to half marathons. In the spring of 2010, he ran his first ever marathon and ran a qualifying time for Boston. Rory has been coaching track and cross country at Thomas Edison High School since 2005 and is also an assistant coach with the =PR= High School Summer Training Program. He is also a VHSL certified coach and a USA T&F certified offcial. Rory's favorite local place to run is the Manassas Battlefields.

Sarah Jarvis Grigsby

Hometown: Indianapolis, IN

Running Experience and Accomplishments: Indiana born and raised, Sarah ran cross-country and track from the 6th grade through college, ultimately landing as a scholarship athlete at Indiana State University, where she raced distances including the 1500, 3K, 5K, and the Steeplechase. According to Sarah, “the feeling of running fast from time to time and meeting phenomenal people, keeps me showing up everyday to run.” Sarah’s post-collegiate goals include a sub 1:20 half marathon, sub 18:00 5K, and to qualify for an compete in the Ironman Champs in Kona.

Kristine Johnston

Hometown: Champaign, IL

Running Experience and Accomplishments: Kristine started running in high school, when she joined the cross-country team on a whim. She began running more seriously her freshman year of college, when she completed her first half marathon. She has since run multiple half and full marathons, including Boston in 2009. Her current goal is to set a new personal record in the half marathon.

Favorite....quote: “I can go as fast as I want and as far as I want... I don't have to wait for somebody to show up. Instead, it's 'I'm outta here.'".

 

Jason Kagarise

Hometown: Leesburg, VA

Running Experience and Accomplishments: Four years ago Jason was asked if he wanted to do a 10k and he laughed at the suggestion. He has since ran the 2009 Historic Half Marathon in Fredericksburg, the 2010 National Marathon and is currently training for the Big Sur Marathon in May. When he was increasing his mileage for those races Jason was mainly running in his hometown of Leesburg, VA. He now resides in Falls Church and has aspirations of one day qualifying for the Boston Marathon.

Favorite....thing about running: “Being able to eat fast food without guilt.".

 

Casey Kohut

Hometown: Cold Spring, NY

Running Experience and Accomplishments: Casey always had an interest in running, after admiring her parents, both dedicated runners, and remembering her mom going out for 20 milers while marathon training. Casey ran at Union College in upstate NY, specializing in the middle distances and is proud of be part of various school record holding and conference champion winning relay teams. Casey has done 3 marathons and looks forward to concentrating on setting some PR's in the 10 miler - half marathon distance range.

Favorite....Memory of Running: "On a cruise with my family to Europe, my mom and I ran up and down the dock in Valetta, Malta for an hour to get away from the evil treadmill!"

 

Ashley Kraus

Hometown: Winter Park, FL

Running Experience and Accomplishments: Ashley participated as a great benchwarmer and at times team player in sports like softball and lacrosse while growing up. She did not take to running until a spur of the moment college "Jogging" course decision hooked and reeled her in! Five years and 5ks, 10ks, 10 milers, half marathons, and a few injuries later, Ashley is about to run her first marathon, Rock 'n' Roll USA. She also enjoys the stress relief and good tidings that practicing yoga bring. Ashley runs to celebrate life and her goal is to qualify for Boston someday.

Bryan Morch

Hometown: Manassas, VA

Running Experience and Accomplishments: Bryan is a former collegiate swimmer who got into triathlons as a way to train in the off season. Today, he still does triathlons but runs more for fitness.

Amanda Sperling

Hometown: Montgomery Village, MD

Running Experience and Accomplishments: Amanda has been a part of a number of teams and found her passion of running through her high school field hockey team. While swimming in college, she used running as a way to train in the off season and to help better her swimming times. She has completed a variety of races from local 5K’s to the Baltimore Marathon in 2012. She just completed the NWHM in DC and is signed up for the Disney Marathon in January. She is really looking forward to improving her distance running.

Karen Willard

Hometown: Raleigh, NC

Running Experience and Accomplishments: Karen's running career began when she made the middle school track team and got her first pair of real running shoes. These days her run training is mixed in with swimming and a lot of biking. She believes in the power of the group workout for motivation, especially when the weather is bad, has learned that drinking some Coke at the right time during a long race can change everything, and prefers a trail in the woods to a sidewalk. Karen also serves as an Assistant Coach with PRR Training Programs.

Shateela Winters

Hometown: Buffalo, NY

Running Experience and Accomplishments: A little over two years ago friends challenged Shateela to run a 5k and she reluctantly agreed. After that race she was hooked. Fast forward to to today after countless 5k's, many miles logged and five half marathons later Shateela is finally training for her first marathon this fall.

Favorite...Race: Rock and Roll, DC
